CSSBuy Spreadsheet: The US-Only Court Order, the 6% Fee, and the AliExpress Alternative

CSSBuy is one of the older agents still trading, and 'does CSSBuy work for the USA' is its most searched question for a reason. On October 30, 2024, a New York federal court granted four fashion houses a preliminary injunction limited to CSSBuy's activity in the United States, rejecting their request for worldwide scope, and kept about $140,000 frozen. So the order targets sales to US customers; it doesn't stop CSSBuy serving buyers elsewhere. Its fee is published: 6% of item cost, 3–5% at higher tiers. For US shoppers, AliExpress is the lower-risk route for anything it sells.

Does CSSBuy still work for US buyers?

The case is Celine S.A. v. HongKong CSSBuy E-Commerce Co., brought by Celine, Christian Dior, Loewe and Fendi in the Southern District of New York. The court's opinion is public on CourtListener, and three points matter for buyers:

In practice, a US buyer ordering through CSSBuy is doing so while a US court order restricts the company's US sales. That affects the listings and brands involved rather than every product, but it's a reason for US customers to expect more friction — refused items, held parcels — than buyers elsewhere. The site was still operating when we checked.

Verdict: CSSBuy still works; US buyers carry more risk than others. For anything AliExpress sells, AliExpress is the simpler route for Americans.

What does CSSBuy's 6% fee add to a haul?

CSSBuy is one of the few agents that states its fee in plain numbers, which makes the maths easy:

Against the agents that charge nothing on Weidian or Taobao, 6% is expensive; against AliExpress, which charges no fee but builds its margin into prices, it's a question of whether the Chinese price is low enough to absorb it. On a ¥1,000 haul the ¥60 fee is roughly the cost of one cheap tee — worth paying if the haul would have been four or five separate AliExpress parcels.

Reviewers also report that CSSBuy's shipping calculator has underestimated real bills by $20–50. Ask for the packed weight and dimensions before choosing a line, and don't treat the first estimate as final.

Community sources date CSSBuy to around 2013, which makes it one of the longest-running agents in the spreadsheet world. Its search volume tells an interesting story: 'cssbuy' is searched far more in Brazil than in the US, and its US interest centres on exactly the question this page answers. 'CSSBuy forwarding service' is another steady search — CSSBuy also forwards parcels you've had delivered to its warehouse, which is useful for Chinese shops that deliver only domestically.

CSSBuy links in spreadsheets usually wrap a Taobao or Weidian item ID. They convert cleanly with the link converter if you want to price the same items elsewhere.

A US buyer's checklist before a CSSBuy order

If you're in the US and still want to use CSSBuy for items AliExpress doesn't carry, a short checklist keeps the risk proportionate:

  1. Stick to unbranded goods and small labels. The injunction concerns the four plaintiffs' brands; unbranded basics and 1688 stock sit outside that dispute.
  2. Keep parcels modest. Every US parcel can owe duty since August 2025, and a smaller parcel is a smaller loss if it's held.
  3. Declare the true value. Customs decisions and any insurance payout both start from it.
  4. Pay per order. About $140,000 of CSSBuy's assets have been frozen since 2024; that's not your money, but it's a reminder not to leave a large balance with any agent in litigation.
  5. Price the AliExpress version first. If a similar item is sold there with buyer protection, the direct route is simpler for a US address.

Verdict: For US buyers, CSSBuy is a specialist tool for items AliExpress doesn't sell, not a default.
