What should you check on each kind of accessory?

Each kind of accessory has one or two details that decide whether it's worth keeping. Ask for these in close-up, from an AliExpress seller before buying or from an agent's QC photos before shipping:

Sunglasses deserve a special note: UV protection is the point of them. Look for a UV400 or equivalent marking in the listing and on the lens or arm, and treat any pair without one as fashion eyewear only.

Verdict: For accessories, a close-up photo of the one detail that matters is worth more than any product description.

Accessories: AliExpress or an agent?

Because accessories are light, the shipping maths that favours agents for clothing hauls matters less. The deciding factors are range and inspection:

A good use of accessories is as fillers: if you're already sending an agent parcel of clothes, a pair of sunglasses or a belt adds a few grams and costs almost nothing extra to ship. On AliExpress, by contrast, each accessory from a separate store arrives in its own packet.

A closer look at watches

Watches are the one accessory where the price range is wide — the catalog runs from basic quartz pieces to listings of several hundred dollars. Two things to know. Quartz watches run on a battery and are usually cheap and accurate; automatic (mechanical) movements are wound by wrist motion, cost more, and vary widely in quality. And watches with batteries can be restricted on some international shipping lines, while AliExpress excludes batteries from its free-return policy.

For anything expensive, the evidence standard should rise with the price: ask for a video of the watch running, check the dial and crown alignment in close-up, and insure the parcel. Don't buy a costly watch on a listing that shows only polished promotional images.

Bags: the weight you don't expect

Bags are the exception to 'accessories are light'. A structured leather bag with its dust bag, tissue and box can weigh more than a hoodie and take up far more room, so it's the item most likely to push an agent parcel onto a higher volumetric weight. Ask the agent to remove the retail box and stuffing unless you want them, and keep the dust bag, which protects the bag in transit and weighs almost nothing.

On AliExpress the store absorbs the packaging, but the same logic affects returns: a bulky bag is more expensive to post back if it's not eligible for a free return. Check the listing's return badge before buying anything large, and look for buyer photos showing the bag's real size against a hand or a phone — seller photos often make bags look larger or smaller than they are.
